Yay for wine bars!

Went to Smash yesterday evening and it was surprisingly great! http://www.smashwine.com/ Laura and I ate ourselves sick (shocker) and I returned to my very super scientific study of local wines.  What all did we eat you ask?  Here's a list: cornbread (yes, really, so freaking good) w/ chive butter and honey, calamari (these were all small plates so there were only like 5 bites apiece), "'tater tots' (more like fried balls of mashed potatoes but you can't go wrong w/ fried potatoes), sliders, and a big honking bowl of truffled mac 'n cheese.  Granted it was more like mac soup due to the lack of bechamel sauce.  Which in turn led to a long and detailed discussion of the importance of said sauce.  Anyway, on the wine front.  I had a flight of rose' wines and then I had a glass of Gilbert Cellar's Allobroges Syrah (going to hunt down a few bottles of this soon) and a glass of Atticus Pinot Noir.  Good stuff.
This is actually a pic from the beach back in May.  But you know, for reference purposes...
