So while Jenni was here we did quite a bit of restaurant sampling. Which is always a good time. Or as she kept putting it, "this is the best place EVER". Here's a briefish rundown of the places where we ate while she was here.
Black Bottle. I'd been here a couple of times before and thought it might be a good starting off place. It had a pretty cool interior and the food is decent. We were able to sit outside and could see the water from our table too so that was pretty nice.
http://blackbottleseattle.com/ We ordered the clams (yum), a flatbread pizza that had pesto, fontina, and tomatoes, and then the braised oxtail. That was awesome. My only complaint is that it didn't come with anything you could sop up the delicious juices with. Oh well.
We got up the next morning and grabbed some breakfast at Blue Star
http://www.bluestarcafeandpub.com/ It was delicious but neither of us could finish our food because there was so much of it. I don't think we ate lunch that day...we actually spent most of it recovering from the night before. That afternoon we decided to walk around downtown some and did some happy hour hopping. We stopped at Sazerac at the Hotel Monaco first and had a delicious leek and artichoke dip w/ flatbread and some spiced nut mix. The drinks were good too! After that we walked across the street to the W but were pretty underwhelmed by the food there. Granted, the wasabi peas that they give you when you sit down are quite tasty. So onward and upward from there. We went to Quinn's
http://www.quinnspubseattle.com/ where we ended up meeting up w/ L and a friend of hers. While we were there we had some excellent beers and the super delicious frites fonduta and the oxtail with gnocchi. OMG so good. We just headed home after that, we were still kind of hurting from the night before and decided to call it an early one.
The next day we got up pretty early and got ready to go hiking. However, before we headed to the mountains we had to get sustenance for along the way. We drove over to West Seattle to the most awesome bakery ever!
http://www.bakerynouveau.com/welcome/ They have these amazing croissants (the baker won the international croissant competition in Paris) that are stuffed with ham and gruyere that we got for breakfast. But we also got some croissant sandwiches to bring up the mountain with us for lunch. I think Jenni also had a pistachio macaroon that she announced was 'AWESOME". So up the mountain we went.

Amazing... |
After we finally made it back down we stopped for a recovery beer at the Issaquah Brewhouse. Beer post hike is always an excellent decision, fyi.

Happiness is a cold beer. |
That night after everyone had gotten cleaned up and rested from the hike we headed back over to Capitol Hill for some pizza.
http://www.viatribunali.net/index.php?page=capitol-hill This place is so good. And since it was the 4th of July weekend the crowds weren't insane. I had the Via Tribunali pizza, Jenni had one with nasty mushrooms on it (my words not hers), I forget which one L had but there was prosciutto on it. They were all fantastic and it's fun to play pass the slice so you can taste a bunch of different ones. Another plus about this place is that you can get the house wine by the carafe and it's pretty decent. After we finished stuffing ourselves with pizza we headed over to Knee High for some after dinner drinks (see Cups of Awesome).

Cups of awesome |
The next day Jenni and I headed over to Tilth for brunch.
http://www.tilthrestaurant.com/home Tilth is so cute, it's this little green house with a great little wooden front deck where you can sit and eat. So for brunch that day we had these amazing apricot scones, I ordered the Chicken and Biscuits (amazing herby biscuit with pulled chicken, gravy, and a fried egg on top) and Jenni had the Italian Sausage omelette, which is fairly self explanatory. Oh, and the cappuccinos and mimosas there are excellent too.

Where to go for a happy breakfast |
After we'd eaten till our eyes crossed we headed back to my place and got ready to go kayaking. My new addiction. I've already kind of covered this place (again, see Cups of Awesome) but we rented the kayaks from Agua Verde
http://www.aguaverde.com/ and when we returned them we headed up to their deck for margaritas and guacamole. They were both really really good which is a nice surprise. I'm always a little afraid of margaritas when they're made outside of the southwest.

Mmmm...frosty beverage... |
After our refreshment Jenni and I headed over to Cafe Bizarro for dinner. This place was nutso! But it was seriously entertaining. Plus the food was incredible.
http://www.bizzarroitaliancafe.com/ We didn't order any apps but they brought out some really good bread before the meal and I ordered the Carbonara and it was fantastic. It wasn't heavy the way people like to make it when they add cream to it. This one was just chicken stock, egg, pancetta, house made linguini, and peas. Jenni ordered the margarita pasta and the bolognese sauce added to it. Hers was excellent too. AND this place lets you order house wine by the carafe too, score! We ate ourselves sick. Again. And called it a night after that.
The next day was the 4th and we started the day off right. Laura had told me about this awesome NY Jewish deli/diner that was over in Freemont so we decided to walk over and check it out. OMG this place was awesome. It's called Roxy's and the food selection boggled the mind.
http://www.pastramisandwich.com/ Also, the drinks were dirt cheap with is always a good thing. I ordered the latkes (potato pancakes) and eggs and an onion bagel w/ cream cheese. And Jenni ordered an onion bagel w/ cream cheese, salmon, capers, etc. And we both had some really great champagne cocktails. She found one that's going to be one of my new Sunday Funday drinks; champagne and ginger ale. And I had one that was a mix of black currant juice and champagne. Both were outstanding. Needless to say this filled us up for a bit but that afternoon we headed over to the waterfront and got some dungeness crabs. We brought those bad boys back to my place and ate them w/ a bucket 'o butter and then headed down to watch the fireworks.

BOOM! |
I think that was about it. All in all we did a pretty good job of eating our way through a lot of different places and somehow managed to survive it.
